Cathedral Rim Trail

We left Cathedral Lakes Lodge at 8am. Our route took us to Lake of the Woods, Ladyslipper Lake, Cathedral Rim (partial) and back to the lodge via Glacier Trail. This loop was 12.5 km and provided spectacular views of surrounding peaks and the lakes. A great view of smoky the bear from a distance. It was hot with blue skies and very little clouds and given that this route is exposed, sunscreen a hat and lots of water was required. The bugs were tolerable during the day but a problem in the early evening. At the top of the Glacier Trail there was a large patch of snow we had to descend as we made our way back to the lodge. Most of this trail is above the tree line making it dry, and rocky with lots of shale.
