Drove to the end of the Callaghan Valley Rd with 2 friends. Had a picnic at Callaghan Lake and started nosing around for a hike. None of us knew the area whatsoever, furthest I'd been was to turn off onto Brandywine FSR. The young BC Parks ranger painting the outhouse couldn't advise us on a trail, so we just started on a faint trail beside the creek, until it met up with a well marked and maintained trail across the creek. Turns out it was the trail to Conflict Lake done by Callaghan Country Lodge. I may not be able to afford their nightly rate, but I would return to hike this trail. Scenic the whole way and a nice, easy break for the legs.
