Staying at a lower elevation, in the forest shades, and near the water seems to be a good compromise for an outing during these smokey days. I was in the Fraser Valley yesterday and went to check the amazing Othello Tunnels trail at the Coquihalla Canyon. It is more like a walk in the park if you don't follow the trail further away beyond the tunnels. It was a quite pleasant walking along the running water.
On the way back we stopped at Bridal Falls, also a beautiful setting. I talked to a couple of locals that were hanging in there at a trail head by the falls with their dogs, and they told me that air quality under the canopy was way better than in their house.
Stay cool! Try to find your best spot to minimize the impact of the smog.
