Drove 15km past Port Alberni to the resort at the east end of Great Central Lake to catch the Della Falls Water Taxi. By taking the taxi we skipped the full day paddle to the trailhead at the west end of the lake. By dinner we had arrived at the camp site closest to Della Falls. But there's two other camp sites along the trail not counting the one at the trailhead.
Day 2 we hiked the ridge opposite Della Falls to Love Lake, a medium sized alpine lake in a large bowl. It took 2.5hrs from the camp. The trail is steep in places but not technical. Great views in all directions.
Day 3 we hiked the short trail to Della Falls, picnicked, and meditated amongst the white noise.
Day 4 was rainy while we hiked back to the trailhead. We could have caught the water taxi out the same day but we chose to setup camp and go for a swim. Unlike Drinkwater Creek which is the runoff from the falls, the lake is warm. The next morning the taxi picked us up as arranged ahead of time.
