This is my favourite little getaway spot if I do not have time for a full day hike. Once you find a rock by the water to occupy, it feels like the crowd of people aren’t as prominent. There are a lot of people camping in the area, but it’s the temporary visitors that are the loudest.
The somewhat moderately steep trek is enough to break a sweat, but probably not enough to make your legs scream in pain (Or I just didn’t trek fast enough). It’s a well-marked hike, with plenty of people flocking to the lake despite the forecasted rain. Thankfully the trail is wide on the steeper sections to allow for passing, however, the initial rocky stretch leading up to a log bridge is quite narrow and muddy. Yes, you will encounter people in runners, and yes it will take awhile to make it through this section. Oh, and the log bridge isn’t just a fallen log. There is a mesh grid overlaid on it for extra grip and cables that act as a railing (I don’t trust them in the slightest).
I enjoyed this hike just on the basis that I needed a short escape. Probably would not recommend this as a day hike for those looking for a challenge, but it is definitely a family-friendly place.
