This is a longer approach (~2 miles and 1500' more) than from Johnston Ridge, but less people. Very scenic, more variety. Starts in forest, then a grassy ridge, some rusty logging equipment, distance ridges, and lakes and flowers.
Current condition:
Only one small snow patch left. Probably all melted by the time you read this.
No water source along the entire trail.
Flowers were excellent.
Tiny flies on the northern most rock on top of Coldwater Peak.
Trail is in good shape and well marked.
