As someone who is new to hiking the East Canyon Trail was a good way to test my leg muscles over a bit of a longer distance and some hills.
Started walking at 9:09 and finished at 12:20 - wasn't busy at all, I only encountered a few people on the way back.
The trail is currently mainly dry, and any little streams that cross it are dry or running at a trickle, so there were really no obstacles, and the path is good. It was a lovely trek through the forest with the mountains peeking through the trees with a really wonderful stop at the beach. I'm one of those people who loves when the clouds hang over the mountains. If you're new to hiking, or not in the best shape the first hill on the way out is a bit of a challenge, but once you get to the top, it's pretty easy work all the way back. There were lots of bugs, but I don't think any bit me (so far so good!).
Thanks to the person who hung my dropped hat on the Lower Falls Connector sign!
Viewpoint Beach is lovely, and the waters are crystal clear - however, someone has recently been there with dogs, and has not cleaned up after their pet, so watch for the piles.
