We wanted to try to get at least one more snow-free hike in this year so picked this low elevation trail. There was a forecast of a snow warning in the canyon the night before and we were a little concerned as we drove up from Yale and saw some snow on the hilltops, but the trail was still snow-free the entire way. Looked a lot different than when we tried it early this spring and were waist-deep postholing through the old burn area. It was a rainy, soggy day so views weren't spectacular, but the moisture definitely made the fall colours pop. Few minor areas of deadfall but easy to navigate over, under or around. Was an enjoyable trip out and not too much effort without the snow being there yet.
