DIRECTIONS: Parking lot is on the north side of the hwy, while trail head is on the south side, after you cross the bridge. Just be careful when you walk across the highway. It's possible to walk down to the creek by the parking lot.create
First 1.5-2 miles, there were tracks, until the first viewpoint. After that, no track. Armed with GPS map, still didn't manage to follow the trail. So, basically cross-country. Was kind of fun route finding, if not for the low temperature. I've never been out this long in such cold weather, my Nalgeen water bottle was frozen at the lid of with ~1cm thick of ice. Had to eat snow to quench thirst. At least I wasn't sweating, so didn't need too much water. One of the gal's hiking pole was frozen at the clips so she couldn't adjust it. Those who used bladder, the tube was frozen not soon after leaving the car.
We did maybe 8 miles (my phone registered 22000 steps), since we have cut the trail going up over the hill instead of around. Also we didn't reach our destination, even though fairly close.
Road is passable for all vehicles.
