This was a wonderful hike. There were blue skies with very few clouds almost all the way up.
The trail was very easy to follow. There are lots of switch backs up. You can get the best part of the views by only hiking up to Columbia Rock (the 1st 2km of the trail and about ~400m elevation gain). If you do that, continue hiking for about 15 minutes more to get a scenic look of Yosemite falls from below. After this part, you climb for about another ~400m to get to the upper falls lookout. On the very last part (from the sign to the actual lookout) I had to break my own trail and you had to be careful since the summer hand-railing that is used to help access the trail was completely buried in snow. The view from the lookout is nice, but in my opinion the view (especially of the falls) is better from below. Also, this last part (from the view of the falls below to the top lookout) is the only place I really needed snow shoes. It took me about 6 hours (return) to hike with some short breaks.
