Start from the kayak rental hut by the day use parking lot and go clockwise around the lake. The trail starts behind the yellow gate on a gravel road leading to the group campsite. The first half of the trail was gravel road/path (unless we totally missed something) and was not great - boring and no lake view. At the far side of the lake, by an out of use outhouse, there is a small, unmarked path leading down to a beautiful sandy beach and clear/turquoise water. Back up to the gravel road and a few minutes further around the lake there is a fork - continue on the gravel road to the left or take a dirt trail to the right. TAKE THE RIGHT!!! It was a stunning trail with wooden bridges, and creeks and lake views and pathways down to beaches. We continued through the campsite areas and along the shoreline and onto rocks and I didn't want it to end. I just hope we hadn't missed out on something similar for the first half of the hike.
