Challenging winter destination and I was the only non-skier in the area all day.
Snowshoes all day long until I got to the first scramble to the end of the ridge that leads to Needle Peak... hid snowshoes in the pines and booted it from there (post holed a fair bit crossing the wind slabs along the ridge).. probably could have saved energy if brought the snowshoes along... oh well, not fond of copious gear changes...
The ropes for that first scramble were frozen into ice and against the rock just to make life more interesting...
Ice and rime on Needle... managed in boots, left crampons in backpack... 'cause... reasons. Not easy as you are blindly seeking purchase with your feet under the deep snow in some sections.
Just a quick rant... whomever spray painted arrows on the rock leading to the peak should be shot... just say'in... *shakes head* ... wtf?
The rest was pretty straight forward...
