2-day outing. Camped at Wing Lake for one night. At least a dozen other tents. Busier than I'd like. We met some who did this in one day. I rather like camping here.
Very dusty trail all along (if not on rocks). From Heather Pass down to Lewis Lake is a long talus field. Now almost devoid of snow, so boulder hopping makes slow going.
We took the standard route (south ridge?). To the saddle is rock first, then loose scree. Near the saddle is very steep (I consider this as the worst section during the climb). It's better to come here at least a month earlier, hoping the snow covers all.
Climbing the ridge has a defined trail for the lower half, then, you pick your own route. Maybe class 3? The very top block (about 20') requires pulling yourself by hands - a bit risky. There is a flat area to the left of the top block (where you need to go down a bit and traverse before climbing) which makes a good turnaround if you don't want to scale vertical large rock. View from the saddle and onward is amazing.
Bugs are mostly gone.
Bring helmet! Rather a busy climb. Rocks may hit you from someone else' foot.

4, top of Black Peak. My phone battery nearly drained, so I couldn't see what I was shooting. Had to stitch 3 photos together afterwards. Not the best.
