This is a snowshoe trip. 3 of us followed (more or less) Commonwealth trail, up to the junction with PCT. Then we cut to right, scrambled up the steep hills. All in snowshoes. (On the way back, I took off my snowshoes, was postholing quite a bit).
Once above tree line, we changed to crampons and ice-axes. The snow is solid and not icy.
