Went with a group of adventurous folks in Seattle area. Most of the loop is off trail. On the trail, snow was quite packed. Once off the trail, we needed snowshoes.
We came down Granite's south slope. Uncomfortably steep. Full of avalanche signs. Had to pack away snowshoes to increase traction. Part walk, part post-hole (thigh deep), part glissade, until we hit the trail again. Got very wet.
It might be wiser to go down its east slope, seems gentler.
Current condition: warm, soft and sticky snow.
View is unbeatable.
